The Aftermath

August 10th, 2011 No comments

Drank a couple of  ginger ale’s with ginger/apple vodka before heading out on Saturday last weekend. Was sat people watching out my window for a while as well.

we attempted to do a pub crawl, and i think we got around to at least 4-5.. but to be honest none of us can really remember all that much ;)

i didn’t spend too much money seeing as Matt kept offering to buy me drinks. a cosmopolitan? don’t mind if i do!

an Australian guy was trying to chat me up for a while as well, and to be honest it was loud and he had an accent so whenever he said something i nodded my head and said yeah.. then he finally asked me if i actually understood anything he was saying. said no and walked away. nice girl i am ey?

The Great ‘Dog Whistle’ Debate

November 27th, 2010 No comments

Cosmopolitan did an article a while back that i wrote about, check it out here, and i’ve noticed that it’s been quite popular.

so last month i saved my cosmo magazine so i could write about the follow-up, but i’ve put it off for so long..

so here it is!

‘im no dog whistle’ vs. ‘dog whistles do exist’

personally, i think they do exist. i think the girls ‘defending’ them, are either dog whistles themselves or don’t really understand the concept.

i’m friends with plenty of guys, i chill with them. i play their games, i drink beer, i’m sort of a tomboy at times. but this doesn’t make me a dog whistle, just a friend. if you go around with an ulterior motive, then that’s another story. one girl from Bath, U.K. said ”i sit on the  laps of my male friends and discuss sex with them,” i find that a bit weird. i really hope that those guys don’t have girlfriends because i would not be happy. i think there’s also a difference when there’s an attractive girl in the group compared to maybe not being so ‘hot’. guys will always have ulterior motives.

a lot of women think it’s harsh that we’re labelling women, but really? we’re all labelled a million times over and the ‘dog whistle’ label has made me feel like i’m not the only girl in the world feeling this way.

Cocktails

went along with tara, alex, and julia yesterday to nando’s while they ate dinner. i had already eaten so i was sat there smelling the goodness but too stuffed to even try anything!

then i had a brilliant idea, cocktails everyday 2 for 1 from 7-8! so we almost ran to the marylebone.

get there and guess what… 8-9! typical. went to coco momo for a quick glass of wine. their prices are actually quite reasonable for the high street.

we wanted those damn cocktails so back we went. jules and alex’s friend sophia joined us as well.

elderflower margaritas, watermelon cosmopolitans, and a couple of pimms later most of us were ready to head home.

but jules and i met up with daphne and her new flatmate and waited for simon at wetherspoons. then home i went to sleep since i’ve got an essay due this week.. eeks.

how to make a purrrrfect cosmo

first freeze your martini glasses and vodka a couple of hours before serving

then pour 40ml vodka, 25ml cointreau, 20ml fresh lime juice and 20ml cranberry juice into a cocktail shaker. add ice.

after shake for 15-20 seconds

finally serve. strain into martini glasses then slice an orange into two and wipe the zest around the rim. finish by shaving a twist of peel off an orange to garnish.

The female dog whistle

August 17th, 2010 2 comments

i was reading cosmopolitan magazine when i was at simon’s in july. completely forgot to write about this article but it’s ridiculous how true it is and how many girls like this i’ve known.

basically the article is about women who act a certain way, but much like a dog whistle (only dog’s can hear them) only women see what they’re actually doing.

i can’t really do the article any justice, but if you have the chance pick up the summer edition of cosmo magazine give it a read.

she’s the type of woman who pretends to be ‘one of the guys’ but spends much too many hours getting ready just to sit around and hang out.
she flirts with your boyfriend and friend’s boyfriend just for the attention. thankfully guys are either too stupid or too smart to realize it.
she always plays the ‘women don’t seem to like me’ card with guys.
she pretends to be something she’s not around guys.
she craves male attention. she’ll stab you in the back for it.
she always talks about sex, past sexual experiences, and how much she likes certain sexual positions and whatnot. says things like ‘oh gosh, i forgot to put underwear on today’ and ‘i always sleep naked’.

so sick of meeting girls like this. i really am.

FDW, girl’s that only other girls can hear.

Shoes, OMG.

June 19th, 2010 No comments

saw these shoes in cosmopolitan magazine when i flew here to stockholm, but i just came across them on the topshop website again and wow. anybody else think they’re really cool and perfect for the summer/fall/spring? i loves them!

then i happened to come across Kurt Geiger and there’s a massive sale. the three shoes above where my favorites. although the beige ones are a lot like my topshop shoes i love them. platform shoes is the shit. and the sandals are prefect for someone as short as me, sandals yet a little heel to help me up in the world ;) the boots were just all around cool. although im wondering if the heels would be a pain to walk in? who knows! either way Kurt Geiger is slowly earning my attention..

Detrimental

starting cleaning up a bit in my room since there’s bits of paper everywhere, watercolors, color palette, just stuff everywhere from doing my work. i came across a magazine from a while back and started to go through it again and there was an article about female porn. it’s just a controversial subject but im bringing it up anyways. women tend to find porn very degrading, which honestly 99% of the time it is. so one woman decided to start a company where they make female porn, a bit more sensual and not so sexist. which all in all is a good idea. women are allowed to watch porn as well no? i was trying to find the article online to post but couldn’t find it, instead i came across a lot about relationships and porn. women and their boyfriends/husbands watching porn. honestly at the end of the day men are men. you can’t change them. they are obsessed with sex and will never stop doing what they want to do. but i do agree with a lot of the women i found posted comments online, it is detrimental to a relationship. how is a woman supposed to feel if she’s out for a couple of hours and her guy’s at home watching porn? he couldn’t wait? she’s not good enough? not skinny enough? doesn’t have a good enough body? doesn’t appeal to him as much? all these questions arise, cause women are women. women have feelings and also tend to make a big deal out of nothing. and im not speaking for all women, cause some chicks love it as well. some couples watch it together. but for me it is such a major turn-off that i cannot even begin to explain. a man watching porn when he’s got a girl is probably one of the most degrading things i can think of. it’s pathetic as well. granted if she’s away for a long time, but some of these men watch it all the time. leave their wives to cook dinner to watch porn. honestly i’d drop him like no tomorrow. im not saying there’s anything wrong with watching porn, on your own time of course, but some men should really consider their partners feelings.
